Hello to all those passionate about art and therapy! I am glad to have you here to immerse ourselves together in the fascinating world of art therapy. I am Gabriela Rad, an artist who firmly believes in the transformative power of art in our lives, both aesthetically and emotionally. Today we are going to explore the various streams of art therapy and how they can positively impact our emotional and mental well-being.
CURRENTS OF ART THEAPY
Psycho-Educational Art Therapy
Let's start by talking about psycho-educational art therapy, especially effective with children and adolescents. This approach combines art with emotional learning, teaching emotional control, symbology through colors, and encouraging personal expression. It is ideal for developing concepts through art and working on self-knowledge through workshops.
Cognitive-Behavioral or Clinical Approach
Another important approach is the cognitive-behavioral approach, used to change dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors. It is effective as a complementary therapy in cases of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, among others. Therapists trained in this approach offer psychological conversations and tools to address problems.
Transpersonal Method
For those interested in exploring the soul through art, the transpersonal method is the option. This more mystical approach seeks meaning and transcendence through artistic expression, allowing consciousness to be explored from waking to dreams and visions.
Psychoanalytic Approach
Following the tradition of Freud, the psychoanalytic approach in art therapy seeks to release repressed drives and explore the unconscious through art. Ideal for those familiar with psychoanalysis.
Enfoque Clínico de Arteterapia
It is widely used in the treatment of various pathologies such as learning difficulties, ADHD, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, among others, to improve concentration, emotional expression and therapeutic work.
Art Playful Therapy
For a more playful approach, wellness and expression through art workshops are offered, ideal for relaxing and enjoying yourself while exploring creativity.
Gestalt Approach in Art Therapy
The gestalt approach focuses on the “here and now” and personal integration. Used in art therapy, it helps explore dissociated parts of the person through artistic creation, encouraging awareness and change.
It is important to remember that each person can benefit more from one stream than another. Art therapists adapt their approach to address individual needs and promote emotional well-being and self-awareness.
