An ode to the beauty of the imperfect, the ephemeral, and the essential.
WABI-SABI is a work composed of 7 textured pieces made with natural sands, created for the auditorium of Marbella Design Week in collaboration with Leonela Rivas, interior designer and CEO of Lé Interior Design.
The space she designed was inspired by the ancestral beauty of the Mexican cenotes, and my task was to give visual form to that narrative. To do so, I turned to materials that evoke living, untamed earth: sepiolite, pigments, and organic textures that invite touch — as if caressing nature itself.
Each crack, each relief, is born from the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, which celebrates imperfection and the ephemeral, just as nature does: raw, beautiful, honest.
This work is not made to be merely observed — it is made to be felt. For the space to speak, for the art to merge with its surroundings and reveal its soul. Because that is what I seek in every creation: to reflect the essence of the place and of those who inhabit it.
Only those who feel, sense, and value the authentic choose to pause.
